Proficiencies

The inventor can choose inventions from the following Groups:

General, Priest, Rogue and Warrior.

Inventors gain 8 additional Character Points at first level to purchase nonweapon proficiencies. In choosing weapon proficiencies the inventor is treated like a rogue. Thus, he gains 6 CP to purchase weapon proficiencies. Such proficiencies cost 3 CPs. Note the penalties for melee weapons.

Armor

An inventor can wear any armor he likes as long as he can toss its weight. For several occasions, the inventor is better off wearing no armor, an inventor who has chosen certain thieving-skills for instance. Besides the usual full suits (like chain mail or plate mail) the inventor can create his own armor. He does so by welding together several components of existing suits. Every piece of armor will add to the total AC, as described in Combat and Tactics.

Example: Midrella is a human inventrix. She has created her own armor of pieces chainmail, leather and plates. She used studded leather to cover her chest and back to stay mobile. Her right arm and shoulder are covered with a armpiece of full plate for extra protection to her best arm, her left arm and shoulder are armored with chain mail. Her legs are covered with splint mail. Her suit now has an AC-bonus of 1.5 + 0,9 +0,5 + 2x 0.9 = 4,7. This means she has an AC of 5 (10-4.7=5.3 rounded down).

Thaco

The Inventor’s Thaco is calculated 20 - (lvl : 2). Thaco’s can be improved by modifiers, gained in various ways. Such are: devices, other inventions, magic, and ability scores.

Suitcase

This is not one of the followers of the inventor, even though it's named the same. This suitcase is a regular suitcase, and by no means alive. Most inventors have such a suitcase from the start. The basic needs of an inventor can be stored in it and it is still valuable once the inventor reaches higher levels. How else should he carry with him all his bombs devices and ideas for future inventions.

1 Tools and items the inventor needs to create or repair his inventions
2 The eggshells are placed in a soft and safe place, under the inventor's tools. A very heavy shock is needed to make the eggs break.
3 This part of the suitcase acts as a door to the cage. The cage is lower than the top of the suitcase.
4 In a small cage the inventor is able to store up two tiny creatures. He may need them for experiments or impplosives
5 This little cabinet can be used to store the bombs the inventor creates. It is filled with hay to prevent the bombs from breaking.
6 This compartment can also be used for storage. Some inventors use this part for storing their idea's and sketches.
